Cody Parkey expected to sign with Tennessee Titans tomorrow

The Tennessee Titans released kicker Cairo Santos, the team announced Monday. According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, former Bears kicker Cody Parkey is likely to be a stopgap until Succop can return.

Santos was blocked on a 33-yard attempt Sunday and missed from 36, 50 and 53 yards in Week 5, squandering his team's chance at a victory.

"It was a very painful, extremely disappointing day", Santos said after the contest. "I don't feel sorry for myself". "I don't feel sorry for myself, I feel sorry for my teammates and coaches that work hard all week, including myself". As many Bears fans know, Parkey missed a 43-yard field goal that would've advanced Chicago into the next round of the playoffs.

Parkey, 27, earned Pro Bowl honors as a rookie with the Eagles in 2014.

Parkey worked out for the Jets back in August and the Titans in September. He is 4 of 9 in field goals on the season.

It is good to see that the front office and coaches weren't afraid to make the move here and fans know that if Santos is flawless during his two games in Nissan Stadium (or if he just misses one on Sunday) then Tennessee would be sitting at 4-1 instead of wallowing in the pits of despair at 2-3.

The Titans (2-3) also waived offensive lineman David Quessenberry. There's no doubt that the game could've played out differently if Santos had made those field goals.
