Doom Eternal has been delayed until 2020

Doom Eternal has been delayed. Now scheduled to release on Friday, March 20, 2020, holding the gruesome shooter back is said to be in favor of giving players the "best experience" possible when they eventually get their hands on it. "We know many fans will be disappointed by this delay, but we are confident that Doom Eternal will deliver a gaming experience that is worth the wait". Likewise, the game's targeted launch date on Google Stadia is still unknown. These include a planned free update, called "Invasion Mode", that will allow players to "enter another player's game as a playable demon".

With twice as many demons being featured in the sequel as its predecessor, there will be new enemy types including The Marauder and Doom Hunter, while also featuring the returns of previous franchise enemies Pain Elemental, Arachnotron and Archville.

The Doom Eternal release date has been postponed, it seems. It will release on March 20 as well for all platforms, including Nintendo Switch. Finally, if there's a silver lining to this announcement, it's that id and Bethesda have added DOOM 64 as a pre-order bonus for Eternal across all platforms - PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch.

Doom 64: Doom 64 is coming to Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 in addition to Nintendo Switch.
