Gurley doubtful, Talib out vs. 49ers

Gurley doubtful, Talib out vs. 49ers

Gurley is listed as doubtful for the game with a quad injury after being held out of practice throughout the week, not a telling sign he'll play Sunday.

This is significant as today, Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters that Gurley is now day-to-day with a quad injury and didn't practice today.

NFL Network's Steve Wyche reported that the Rams knew Gurley was sore earlier in the week, but added neither Gurley nor the club expected the pain to last this long.

Through five games this season, Gurley's rushed for 270 yards and five touchdowns on 64 carries.

The 2018 49ers were 1-6, having just been shellacked, 39-10, at home by the Los Angeles Rams.

McVay told reporters Friday that Gurley will be the one to decide his availability for the game. Gurley will be replaced by Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson, while Troy Hill will take Talib's spot.

It was reported this offseason that Gurley has an "arthritic component" to his left knee, in which he suffered a torn ACL in college.

Clearly, Gurley is dealing with something, and Los Angeles isn't making the situation any easier to deal with by continuing to act like all is well since a running back with his skill set should see around 20 carries per game.

In addition, the Rams will be without cornerback Aqib Talib, who was ruled out of the important divisional clash with a ribs injury.
