Toyota's 2021 Rav4 hybrid gets a plug

On the outside, the vehicle will look nearly like the RAV4 Hybrid model but this Plug-In Hybrid will be getting a different grille along with vertical accents lights.

Expect to see the RAV4 Plug-in to arrive in Toyota dealerships sometime in 2020.

Buyers of the most popular RAV4 Hybrid Cruiser model now face a wait of more than six months for their cars, although delays vary from model-to-model.

That would mean the electric motors, power electronics controls, inverter, and others will retain the same eight-year or 100,000-mile hybrid system warranty.

"Toyota introduced the first hybrid vehicle in the world more than 20 years ago, but people still have hesitations about owning a hybrid vehicle", the company was reported by Motor1 as saying in a statement.

But, just like every other auto maker - and despite a feeling coming from Toyota that plug-in hybrids are not a clever way to go - Toyota has to have a weather eye on upcoming average Carbon dioxide emission regulations which, despite Toyota's hybrid-dominated range, will still be a struggle.

Toyota Motor Corporation has announced plans to reveal the first plug-in hybrid version of its best-selling vehicle in the United States and some other markets. Similar to the RAV4 Hybrid, a two-tone exterior with a contrasting roof will be available.

Right now, that title is held by the 219-horsepower 2019 RAV4 Hybrid. Though there is one evident difference: the new Supersonic Red colour featured on it. The data mentioned above can provide a hint of what can be expected in November when the 2021 RAV4 Plug-in makes its official debut.
