Google is set to launch the Pixel 4

The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will be available for pre-order from T-Mobile's online store starting at 9:00 pm PT tonight, October 15th.

Both phones feature a 12.2-megapixel f/1.7 main camera and 16-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera on the back, and on the front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

The star of the show for Pixel devices has been the camera, and for the Pixel 4, Google has embedded new AI models and imaging science. You can see the glossy, buzzword-happy video here.

The next generation of Pixel Buds, Google's foray into the wireless earbud game, will summon Assistant in the same hands-free way that you can across Google's various other devices, such as for sending a text, asking for directions, or for understanding another language (but, hopefully, better than with the first generation Buds)-particularly when your phone or device isn't readily in-hand. The company will be hoping this fourth iteration, with its new features, addresses the malaise.

Google failed to receive clearance from the local authority here for radar-based motion-sensing technology called Project Soli, TechCrunch said. It means you can control your phone by waving your hand above it, whether you want to skip music tracks or silence a call. There've been apps that do this sort of thing before - but this system "is able to capture data live", per Google. That's good news for scrubs like me, who still faces the indignity of transcribing my own voice during interviews, but it could be a life-saver for students in lectures, too. You must buy the phone from Best Buy and activate it on Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint during checkout. Google said Rae's voice will be available for a limited time in English in the U.S.

The Pixelbook Go laptop is a lightweight Chromebook.

The Family Wi-Fi features in the Google Home app allows parents to pause Wi-Fi on devices at any time and block adult content.

Google added a Google Assistant smart speaker to its Nest Wifi Point, enabling the same functionality as a Nest Mini. Google says it will have additional details in the months ahead.

Nest Wi-Fi is available for preorder in the USA now, with shipping planned for November 4. They will launch next year for $179 and have five hours of battery life. There's now a fourth color option, blue (such innovation!), alongside red, gray, and black. It comes in four colours: chalk, charcoal, coral and sky - and will also come with a wall mount. That should help tasks like speech recognition more efficient.

As with past year, the raw specs of the camera are augmented with some smart software tricks. And while we're at the video, the rear camera shoots 4K at 30fps, 1080p at 30, 60 and 120 fps, and 720p at 240fps.
