Heat on lockdown regarding Dion Waiters' health situation

The guard became ill on the team plane while flying from Phoenix to Los Angeles, and suffered a seizure, according to Miami radio host Andy Slater.

The Heat lost to the Lakers Friday, 80-95.

As in our original story, the Miami Heat have yet to comment.

It is games like these that really enforce the idea that the purple and gold truly have a shot at winning the 2020 NBA Finals given their No. 1 ranked defense coupled with the talent of Davis and LeBron James.

Unlike Waiters' absence from the Heat's Thursday victory over the Phoenix Suns, when he was listed by the team as being out due to a stomachache, the Heat reported Waiters as being out for Friday night's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers only due to "illness", without specifying the illness. Former players of the franchise have good reason to be proud as the team appears to have wholeheartedly embraced the Heat culture. "That's all I'll talk about", James said.

He is the only person with that specific report. Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel confirmed that Waiters did have a medical emergency on the plane and first responders met the Heat charter when it landed in Los Angeles, but he did not have other details.

Talking to Heat reporter Jason Jackson of FOX Sports at halftime, Wade revealed that he spoke with the Heat players prior to the game.

Waiters has had a rough start to the season in Miami, and has yet to play in a single game.

While James is healthier than his L.A. counterpart, he did miss 17 games last season due to a groin injury and recently said that it was still "partially torn" when he returned to play.

Waiters is in the third year of his four year, $52 million deal with the Heat.
