WhatsApp Now Lets Small Businesses Feature Shopping Catalogs

Facebook announced a new feature for the WhatsApp Business app called "catalog" that will allow businesses to showcase their products, add prices, description, links and share them with potential customers in one go. This is a more professional-looking way for businesses to engage with their clients and keep them invested in the chat.

A WhatsApp catalog can include information such as images of products, prices, descriptions, and product codes.

The feature is now available in Brazil, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. Later, it will roll out to other countries understanding the impact of the feature. If you run a business and have a WhatsApp Business account, you can add a product listing URL and send users directly to your website.

With WhatsApp catalogs, merchants on WhatsApp Business will be able to share inventories of their products with WhatsApp users.

Instant messaging app WhatsApp is not backing down from expanding its in-app features portfolio in India, even after the platform confirmed being breached by foreign spies, snooping on Indian activists and journalists.

WhatsApp further said that using this feature, people can save storage space on the phones of both the businesses and their customers as the platform will be the one hosting the information on its servers. With this feature, businesses will be able to create a catalog of their products and services and showcase them to users. The feature is available in India along with Brazil, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, the U.K and the US.

Facebook has been constantly pushing ecommerce features on its popular messaging platform WhatsApp. It's also expected to roll out to other regions soon. WhatsApp states that the whole goal of WhatsApp catalogs is to showcase and share what products and services businesses offer.

In your chats with a customer, you can tap on the attachment option inside the text box and find the Catalog option there.
