Armed student confronts resource officer at high school

A school resource officer and a high school student have been transported to the hospital after a shooting at Oshkosh West High School.

According to the Oshkosh Police Department and the Oskkosh Area School District, the shooting occurred after an armed student confronted a school resource officer at Oshkosh West High School. A student was armed with a weapon and confronted a school resource officer. "Police and school officials feel confident there is no immediate threat towards San Luis Obispo High School students, staff or their families". Only one student was injured.

'The student and officer were both injured and transported to local hospitals.

The high school, which has over 1,600 students, is being evacuated, said police.

Oshkosh West freshman Alexis Watkins told Action 2 News about the tense moments when it was announced there was a situation at the school. No one else was injured in the incident.


The shooting comes one day after an incident at another Wisconsin high school about 80 miles south of Oshkosh. Where are we going?

"I was walking in the hall, and a teacher shoved me into a classroom, and we started barricading the doors, and we all huddled in the corner, and there were gunshots", he said. "I feel really sorry for our kids that they have to go to school in this environment".

The state Justice Department's office of school safety was working with both schools in Oshkosh and Waukesha to provide them with any services they may need, Kaul said. We are working to get more information and will keep you updated on this breaking news.

No innocents were harmed as a good guy with a gun shot an armed student Monday morning at Wisconsin's Waukesha High School.

A separate incident at a different school in the same city saw a 15-year-old boy taken into custody after police found him with a replica firearm later at his home, according to a police press release.
