Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could come out sooner than previously thought

Games journalist Imran Kahn revealed through an appearance on the latest episode of the Kinda Funny Gamescast that the next Spidey adventure isn't too far away.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could well launch within a year of the release of the PS5.

It's no secret at this point that last year's Insomniac Spider-Man reboot has been a runaway success, and a critical darling. Should we call it Marvel's Spider-Man 2? Well, according to Kinda Funny Games' Imram Khan, we could be getting the sequel sometime in Holiday 2021, meaning that the sequel will probably be a PlayStation 5 game.

What do you think about this latest speculation about the release window for Spider-Man 2? I don't think it quite nabbed that particular title from the Arkham games, but I sure did love it. Rumor has it Insomniac Games will gift us with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sooner rather than later. With both the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett launching next winter, E3 2020 should be huge for the gaming community, and Sony isn't likely to miss out.

Given the fact that the first Marvel's Spider-Man has been used extensively in tech demos for Sony's forthcoming, next-generation PS5 console, it shouldn't come as a surprise that any sort of sequel would be released for PS5 (and also PS4 - because Sony will not want to give up that 100 million plus existing userbase).

Marvel's Spider-Man was one of the best games of 2018 and more importantly for the publisher Sony and the developer Insomniac Games, it sold like hotcakes, breaking numerous records in the process.

While there's no way Sony would confirm Spider-Man 2 this early, it definitely makes a lot of sense to assume that Insomniac, which Sony owns, is working on it.
