Qualcomm's Newest 5G Chips Are The Snapdragon 865 & Snapdragon 765

In addition, Qualcomm promises advanced AI processing for the Snapdragon 765, and a gaming-focused version - the Snapdragon 765G - should bring optimized graphics performance and power consumption features to midrange phones in the same vein as the Snapdragon 730G chipset released earlier this year.

We don't anticipate that the Oppo or Xiaomi phones will be available in the U.S., but the upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro will most likely include the Snapdragon 865. For instance, devices in China, the United States and Europe can use the same platform even if the 5G approaches are different. The latter was announced previous year alongside the Snapdragon 855, an umbrella term for things like filmic tone mapping, cinematic color grading in HDR, and more. While some companies just confirmed their commitments, others announced the specific phones that will use them.

Technically Qualcomm didn't really give any more details than that. Also, the SD865 will support up to 200-megapixel camera and come with support for 8K 30fps video recording. The Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765 lines are official and ready to dominate the Android landscape in 2020. Qualcomm's roadmap often shapes where the mobile devices industry goes, and we know Qualcomm's modems are going to start being used in the 5G iPhone.

Qualcomm said that the Snapdragon 865 will be exclusive to 5G phones, meaning no 4G devices will include Qualcomm's premium chip.

The Snapdragon 765 with Snapdragon X52 Modem-RF is created to offer peak downloads of 3.7 Gbps with upload speeds of 1.6 Gbps to rival many wired connections. Qualcomm says it should work with any key spectrum band, in any region.

For smartphone computational photography fans, Qualcomm's 765 platform's multi-camera capture will enable telephoto, wide and ultrawide lenses without additional equipment. While we'll have to wait a few more months for Samsung to announce the Galaxy S11 series, we do have one certain thing.

The Snapdragon 765 looks to continue that trend.

Qualcomm Quick Charge AI to bolster fast charging. There were some big announcements on day one, yesterday, but probably the most important was the launch of the flagship Snapdragon 865 Mobile Platform.

Its CPU can run up to 2.84GHz, according to Qualcomm, and the GPU is supposed to offer 20% faster graphics rendering.

Extensions for games, details and colors.
