Roy Hodgson on Sakho red, van Aanholt injury and Bournemouth win

Ghana midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp has expressed delight in scoring the victor in Crystal Palace's 1-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth in the EPL on Tuesday night.

Sakho was making just his second league start of the season and recklessly caught Adam Smith high on the knee when sliding in for a tackle in the 19th minute, causing referee Anthony Taylor to show a straight red card.

Probabilities have been at a premium for a lot of the Selhurst Park encounter, however it was a second of magic from Jeffrey Schlupp within the 76th minute - firing residence after a handsome solo run from midfield - that secured a second successive Premier League victory for the hosts.

Philip Billing hit a shot straight at Guaita at the end of the first half, while Dominic Solanke just failed to connect with a unsafe low ball shortly after the restart.

"It was not good enough", manager Eddie Howe said.

'With myself having to drop in at left back, I have played there many a time so it is one of those things where you have to do what you have to do.

Zaha scored the first goal in first-half added time before being involved in an angry confrontation with Phil Bardsley, with Palace manager Roy Hodgson stepping in to prevent the fracas from escalating into something much uglier.

Bournemouth wanted to be down the other end of the pitch in their attempts to end a run of three straight defeats, but Palace put them on the verge of four with 14 minutes left at Selhurst Park.

The Palace fans erupted after the former Leicester ace scored for the second consecutive match and, despite Lerma testing Guaita from range, Hodgson's men held on for a brilliant victory.
