Mourinho praises Rashford in Manchester United's win over Tottenham

New Tottenham Manager Jose Mourinho's Old Trafford return did not go as planned after they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United in the English Premier League.

While Mourinho concedes his side's slow start cost them, the former United coach couldn't help but take a shot at how easily Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side went to ground.

The Special One replaced fan-favourite Mauricio Pochettino in November and has guided the north Londoners to three wins out of three.

Spurs beat United 3-0 thanks to a Lucas Moura brace at Old Trafford at the beginning of last season when Mourinho sat in the home team's dugout.

Smiling manager Solskjaer hailed United's "best performance for a long time".

"I have nothing against him, I think he has nothing against me, that is just that, why should we have any problem". "Some great saves by their 'keeper", he said.

'We want them to go out and enjoy themselves, with no fear of losing.

Rashford then scored the winning goal from the penalty spot shortly after the restart after the England striker was brought down inside the area by Moussa Sissoko. "Our boys knew that clearly", he said.

Rashford was in fine form and he fired Manchester United into the lead in the sixth minute but Dele Alli equalised for the visitors in the 39th minute with a fine finish from inside the box.

'This game could not have come at a worse time for Ole, in terms of that pressure.

The United boss bemoaned his team's failure to turn draws into wins, saying they were not getting the results they deserved, but dismissed any need for crisis talks with the board.

The match then fell into a familiar pattern, with United surging forward in search of another goal, with Rashford a constant threat down the left and Daniel James also looking risky.

However, since Jose Mourinho left United, Matic's playing time has slowly declined.

"This is a closed chapter for me", said Mourinho, who has won all three of his matches in charge of Spurs.

United are also eyeing the top four despite a big gap to close.
