Arkansas hires Sam Pittman to lead football team

"Sam's got an incredible personality and kids gravitate to Sam's personality", Georgia Coach Kirby Smart said on the SEC coaches' teleconference on November 13 when asked about the possibility of Pittman being the Arkansas head coach. Ever since Kirby Smart tabbed Pittman to take over as the Dawgs' offensive line coach, he's targeted some of the top linemen in the country and went out and signed them.

Arkansas reportedly discussed his vacancy with Lane Kiffin and Mike Leach before hiring Pittman.

A few hours later, the Razorbacks confirmed that Pittman has been hired as the school's next head football coach.

"Sam Pittman has been an integral part of successful teams that have competed at the highest levels, including for SEC and NCAA Championships", Yurachek said in a statement. "His connections throughout football will enable him to build a quality coaching staff". His last season with the Razorbacks was the team's best since Bobby Petrino was sacked in 2012 after lying to his bosses about the circumstances surrounding a motorcycle accident and the relationship he had with a woman in the athletic department.

Bulldogs junior Andrew Thomas is the highest-rated tackle prospect available in the 2020 National Football League draft, according to ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. You are likely to get a decent increase to be the head coach of Arkansas.

Pittman has been an offensive line coach at Northern Illinois, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, North Carolina and Tennessee in addition to Arkansas and Georgia.

Pittman would replace Chad Morris, who was sacked earlier this season after less than two years on the job.

Arkansas has finished higher than fourth place in the SEC West just once over the last seven years.
