Falcons’ Ridley, Trufant suffer season-ending injuries

Falcons receiver Calvin Ridley and cornerback Desmond Trufant will miss the rest of the season after getting hurt in a win over Carolina.

The injury occurred on Sunday during the third quarter of the Falcons' 40-20 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

"Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes", Ridley said on Instagram. Ridley, 24, ends his sophomore campaign having put up 63 receptions for 866 yards and seven touchdowns. With three games remaining this season, Ridley was on pace for the first 1,000-yard season of his career. Ridley was just starting to find a groove in the Falcons' offense.

Ridley caught a team-high five passes for 76 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers before he sustained an abdominal injury.

He entered the game with 49,966 career yards. Quarterback Matt Ryan threw to an open Calvin Ridley, who stutter-stepped along the goal line before walking in the score.

The Falcons have a 4-9 record and close the season against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Jacksonville Jaguars on December 22 and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 29.

There were two in particular that the defensive players and coaches would have perhaps liked to have had back - both touchdowns.
