Emery calls on Neymar to quit PSG for Barcelona return

'I injured myself and had to come back.

The Brazil worldwide mentioned: "Professionally and personally, 2019 was a tricky 12 months for me".

Neymar added: "2019 was a very hard year for me in every way―professionally and personally. Then I injured myself once more".

"Yes, we have a chance".

Asked if that could change in 2020, when the first hurdle for Thomas Tuchel's side is to get past Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16, Neymar told Red Bull: "Yes, I think there's a possibility we can make it". Although PSG has never won the Champions League, we are going to fight for this title.

Having left Barcelona for the French capital in the summer of 2017, Neymar has seen his standing in the world game fall due to his failure - in part due to injuries - to inspire PSG to glory in the Champions League.

Neymar's endorsement of the PSG project is interesting to note given the repeated stories last season linking him with a return to Spanish football with his former team Barcelona or their arch rivals Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Neymar Jr has revealed his New Year resolution, with the Selecao ace relishing the challenge of putting in everything to win Champions League and Copa America.

"It was a year full of learnings and turnarounds". Although it may have been wrong, it was a year of much learning, a lot of experience, "he added".

The Brazilian also spoke about a "tough" 2019 while laying out his expectations for the new year.

Emery concluded, "The best player I've ever had?"

Despite these quotes seemingly suggesting that he will be departing PSG in the summer, a member of Neymar's team of representatives has claimed that he is in fact open to extending his contract with the Parisians past its current 2022 expiration date.
