Met Office 70mph wind warning for Norfolk and Suffolk

Met Office 70mph wind warning for Norfolk and Suffolk

According to the latest forecast winds could reach speeds of 50mph in the city.

The Met Office has warned heavy rain could bring flooding and disruption to the county tomorrow (January 13) and Wednesday.

"The strongest winds are expected around exposed coasts and hills in the west of the United Kingdom", reads the warning on the official Met Office website.

A yellow weather warning has been issued covering West Norfolk for today as winds pick up across England.

The warning comes as large parts of Britain prepare for strong winds from Storm Brendan on Monday.

'Inland gusts of 45-55 miles per hour are more likely.

Scotland could also be hit with up to 100mm of rain in the same period, with gale force winds threatening to hit at the same time. A narrow band of squally heavy rain moving east, accompanying the strongest winds, may be an additional hazard'.

Delays for high-sided vehicles on bridges are also said to be likely, while short term loss of power is also possible, the Met Office added.
