Member of Giants organization tests positive for COVID-19, forcing postponements

The two teams had lined up for the national anthem ahead of Friday night's game but neither took to the field, following which the Padres announced that the game had been postponed.

The Giants put out a statement Saturday saying players and staff members have been instructed "to self-isolate in their San Diego hotel rooms with recommended safety precautions in place".

Jurickson Profar hit a go-ahead RBI single in the fifth inning and the San Diego Padres won their seventh straight game, 3-1 against the San Francisco Giants to sweep a doubleheader forced because of a false positive COVID-19 test.

The third game in the three-game series is scheduled for Sunday afternoon. 25-27, but the teams can't look past Sunday's games, which are important to both. The Dodgers still own the best record in baseball, but their lead over the Padres in the National League West is down to just three games, with the two teams scheduled to open a three-game series in San Diego starting Monday night. Dickerson had half-dozen more tests and, despite an emotional and physical ordeal, was back on the field Sunday, getting the first hit off Clevinger in the first inning.

The Padres have won 11 of 13 games. The teams will meet again in San Francisco the final weekend of the season, September 25-27. Any additional postponements would start to cause scheduling issues.
