Google Assistant is rolling out on Samsung's 2020 TVs in the US

According to the company, the feature is now available to 2020 Samsung TV owners in the USA but will soon reach users in other countries as well.

Yesterday, in an official blog, Google has revealed that it is bringing Google Assistant support for the 2020 models of Samsung TV. Although the Samsung TV models come with Google Assistant, the voice control feature was handled by Samsung's Bixby platform.

As reported by The Verge, the AI helper will be available on Samsung 2020 smart TV models, including the 2020 8K and 4K QLED models, the 2020 Crystal UHD TVs, 2020 Frame and Serif sets, and 2020 Sero and Terrace models.

Earlier this week, Google announced that a Guest mode is coming to on Google Assistant soon. From there, select the Google Assistant and follow the instructions shown on your TV and the Assistant smartphone app. For example, Google Assistant will make it easier to start Fitbit Exercise, control timers, manage tasks or add new items to a shopping list, using just your voice and without having to reach for a phone.

Google also announced a slew of updates alongside this news, including support for its Assistant on Fitbit's Sense and Versa 3 smartwatches.

The new Lenovo Smart Clock Essential with Google Assistant is also available at major retailers in the U.S. like Best Buy and Walmart. The wearables already offer support for Alexa, and the new integration makes sense given Google's pending acquisition of Fitbit. In guest mode, Google won't save those interactions, the company claims.

Google is expected to receive the go-ahead from the European Commission to take over Fitbit by December, according to people familiar with the matter. Post installing an OTA update, users can enable Assistant on their Samsung TV by going to Settings.
