IPL 13: Sunil Narine taken off suspected illegal bowling action warning list

IPL 13: Sunil Narine taken off suspected illegal bowling action warning list

The news is related to Sunil Narine's suspected bowling action, which has been given a clean chit. Narine was reported for a suspect motion throughout his staff's conflict in opposition to Kings XI Punjab final Saturday and one other such occasion might have led him to being barred from bowling within the league.

"The Committee carefully reviewed all the deliveries of action footage sent of Mr Narine with the naked eye and has come to the conclusion that the elbow-bend appears to be within the range of permissible limits", it added.

"Sunil Narine, the Kolkata Knight Riders player, has been cleared by the IPL's Suspect Bowling Action Committee", IPL said in a statement on Sunday.

In the match played against Kings XI Punjab last week, there was a complaint of suspicious bowling action against Sunil Narine. However, little could they cherish the win, as Narine was reported by the on-field umpires Ulhas Gandhe and Chris Gaffane for a suspect action. The Caribbean cricketer was then placed on a warning list, and although he could continue to bowl, he risked suspension if he had been reported for the second time.

It's very likely that Narine will feature in the next game for Kolkata Knight Riders which is against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The committee reviewed the action and concluded after studying the footage that the "elbow bend" was within the permissible limit.

Narine picked up two wickets in his four overs during the match last Saturday, which KKR won by two runs while defending 165.

However, the 32-year-old will have to replicate his action as in the footage that was produced before the committee for a review.

The Kolkata Knight Riders off-spinner was reported for suspected chucking during a game on 10 October and another report would have resulted in a bowling ban from this season's tournament.

In 2015, Narine served suspension from bowling in worldwide cricket after his action was declared illegal by the ICC.

His action was also under scrutiny in the 2018 Pakistan Super League.
