Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Told Which Centre-back To Sign For Man United

The Daily Mail has revealed that Manchester United and four others from the Premier League are in the race to sign the £40m-rated David Brooks.

Despite just spending eight months at Old Trafford after joining from the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon, Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to be monitoring the Portuguese.

"The spotlight should be on me because I'm the manager and I'm responsible", Solskjaer told a news conference on Friday.

Poor performances and row with some players like Pogba and Anthony Martial was said to be the rationale for the departure of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

But Solskjaer, speaking ahead of his side's Premier League clash with Newcastle on Saturday night, has now downplayed the incident.

"So, in the next couple of years I'm sure we'll get the best out of him".

Solskjaer also insisted United weren't "divided" behind the scenes, despite reports suggesting the dressing room was far from happy.

"Bruno's now lost two league games since he came to the club and he came in February, but it's been two in quick succession".

Solskjaer has selection decisions, particularly after revealing Harry Maguire returned from worldwide duty with England with an injury.

"Football is very very. you're in the highlights all the time and when Harry is part of the England team which beats No.1 ranked Belgium it's a normal day", he said.

"What you do with individuals is, you speak to them and you sit down and look them in the eye and see where we do we go from here".

"It's about being focused for the next game because I know they're capable of getting results and moving up the table".
