'Lock Her Up!' Trump Supporters Chant Against Michigan Governor Whitmer

The 14 men charged are right-wing extremists who plotted to kidnap Whitmer at her vacation home in MI.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has accused President Donald Trump of encouraging "domestic terrorism" after his rally in the state included supporters chanting "lock her up" days after a botched kidnapping plot against her. The governor herself responded on Sunday during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press" where she accused the president of inciting "domestic terrorism".

Most disturbingly Trump mocked the very real danger that Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer had faced with the advanced plot to kidnap her and put her on "trial" for her measures to control the spread of coronavirus in her state. It has got to end.

At his Saturday rally in Muskegon, Mich., Trump set out to prove Guthrie wrong with an nearly unbelievable string of "did he really just say that" moments.

The event errupted into repeated "lock her up" chants, which Trump merely brushed off and added, 'lock them all up!'

Whitmer said Trump's rhetoric is "dangerous" for her and her family, as well as other public servants facing public furor over lockdown restrictions.

I am asking people of goodwill on both sides of the aisle - please, lower the heat of this unsafe rhetoric.

Democrats have sought to tie Trump to the alleged plot against Whitmer, pointing to the president's tweet earlier this year to "LIBERATE MICHIGAN!" after Whitmer restricted personal movement and the economy in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Several Republican and Trump campaign officials appeared on Sunday news shows to defend the president.

"He wasn't doing anything I don't think to provoke people to threaten this woman at all".

Asked about whether the President has any regrets about his incendiary remarks toward Whitmer during an interview on Fox News Sunday, Miller denied the notion as he repeated Trump's call for the MI governor to "open up your state".

Fox 17 reported that as of Sunday, 14 men had been charged with conspiracy to kidnap and kill Whitmer, but only five of those cases have been approved by the courts, thus far, to move forward.
