City eyeing Messi once again and Giroud leaving Chelsea

City eyeing Messi once again and Giroud leaving Chelsea

After all the debate about his future, all the uncertainty about this potentially being his final season in the Premier League, Guardiola has signed a new contract and is already talking about winning more trophies.

And City are reportedly eager to snatch him away from the Catalan giants as quickly as possible, with suggestions they could work out a deal to see him move in January with Eric Garcia going the other way.

"Ever since I arrived at Manchester City I have been made to feel so welcome in the Club and in the city itself- from the players, the staff, the supporters, the people of Manchester and the Chairman and Owner", he told the Man City website.

"We have incredible games and targets and things we would like to achieve".

And with Guardiola confirmed as staying, it opens the possibility of the Spanish coach being reunited with Lionel Messi for next season should City attempt to sign the Argentina star when his contract at Barcelona expires in June.

Guardiola and Klopp have become two of the best foreign managers to have worked in England, taking their respective clubs up a significant gear and playing superb football along the way.

"The challenge for us is to continue improving and evolving and I am very excited about helping Manchester City do that".

When the Citizens made it official on Thursday, simultaneously some members of the English media came out with a report stating the English side were "ready to go back" for Lionel Messi in January after a failed attempt in the summer.

"I didn't think about anywhere else, just to stay here", he said.

Since taking the job in 2016, Guardiola has led the club to two Premier League titles, three EFL Cup triumphs and FA Cup glory on one occasion.

Pep Guardiola is staying at Manchester City.

City chairman Khaldoon Mubarak highlighted that Guardiola's extension is a sign the club are heading in the right direction.

"Pep's contract extension is the natural next step in a journey which has evolved over many years".

"It is a product of the mutual trust and respect that exists between him and the entire club", he said. If I didn't want to stay, it would take someone to mediate.
