Georgia officials certify election results showing Biden win

Instead, the 45th President of the United States, has tweeted three times since the news broke about Don Jr, and they've all been videos about voter fraud.

His office then stumbled on the final step, prematurely announcing that the certification was complete while only unofficial results remained on the public website.

"The numbers reflect the verdict of the people, not a decision by the secretary of state's office or courts, or of either campaigns", Raffensperger, a Republican and Trump supporter, told reporters, just hours before his office certified the results.

Trump has been waging a last-ditch effort to throw out ballots in counties that voted heavily Democratic, force recounts and otherwise delay the process of finalising state results before the Electoral College votes to confirm the next president on 14 December.

The counties' results were affirmed by a hand count of the 5 million ballots cast in the race, according to results released by the secretary of state's office.

With the door slammed shut in Georgia and having been stung by a series of court defeats, the Trump team is resting its hopes on getting Republican-controlled legislatures in other battleground states won by Biden to set aside the results and declare Trump the victor, according to three people familiar with the plan.

Newsweek has contacted Romney and the Trump campaign for comment.

"We should worry because this is profoundly antidemocratic and is delegitimising the victory of Joe Biden in a free and fair election", Hasen wrote on his blog.

The two GOP officials eventually agreed to certify the results.

On Friday, Kemp said he believed "the vast majority of local election workers did their job well under unprecedented circumstances".

It received more bad news when Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced that a manual recount and audit of all ballots cast in the southern state had determined that Biden was the victor.

It is the totals certified by the counties, not the results of the hand tally, that will be certified by the state. During the audit, several counties discovered previously uncounted ballots and were recertifying their results.

"The UMWA did not support either candidate for President in this election. This is simply unacceptable".

Raffensperger said Friday that he plans to propose legislative changes aimed at increasing trust in the results, including allowing state officials to intervene in counties that have systemic problems in administering elections, requiring photo ID for absentee voting and adding stricter controls to allow for challenges to voters who might not live where they say.

Afterwards, Mr Shirkey and Mr Chatfield said in a joint press release: "We have not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in MI and as legislative leaders, we will follow the law and follow the normal process regarding Michigan's electors, just as we have said throughout this election".

Raffensperger, a self-described "passionate conservative", has endured intense criticism and insults from fellow Republicans - from the president to the chair of the state Republican Party - over his handling of the election.

In her first news conference on Friday since 1 October, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany refused to acknowledge President-elect Biden's victory. I'm disappointed, our candidate didn't win Georgia's electoral votes. Close elections sow distrust. "Fraudelent people take advantage of these types of things" says Rep. Moore.

Earlier in the day, Georgia dealt Mr Trump another blow by certifying Mr Biden's razor-thin margin of victory.
