New Geforce Now Beta gets iOS devices in on the action

Apple has banned Fortnite from its services amid a continuing legal battle with the game's owner, Epic Games. "While the GeForce Now library is best experienced on mobile with a gamepad, touch is how over 100 million Fortnite gamers have built, battled and danced their way to Victory Royale", Nvidia GeForce Now chief Phil Eisler writes in the company's blog post.

Nvidia said a touch-enabled Fortnite was "coming soon" to the mobile browser.

The debut of GeForce NOW on the iPhone is likely to be just the beginning of browser-based cloud-powered gaming in the iOS world, so don't be too surprised if more companies follow in NVIDIA's footsteps with a similar approach. Due to the nature of the games, players will need to have a mobile gamepad or wireless controller that can connect to their device. The initial version of the service will require an accessory called a game pad that attaches to an iPhone to give it buttons and directional pad similar to a console or PC game controller.

Nvidia said its cloud gaming service costs $4.99 (roughly Rs. 400) per month or $24.95 (roughly Rs. 1,800) for a six-month membership. "Members can look for the game on iOS Safari in the near future". It also unlocks real-time ray tracing capabilities in games like Watch Dogs: Legion, Control, Metro: Exodus, Wolfenstein Youngblood, and Cyberpunk 2077 for $5 per month. NVIDIA says it's also been working on latency improvements, with some of those rolled out already and others still in the pipeline. Simply fire up the browser, head to, sign into your account, and start gaming.

Also, Nvidia is updating Geforce Now to work with Chrome for multiple platforms, including Linux, Mac, Android, and PC.

By using this workaround, you'll technically be running the PC version of Fortnite.

Geforce Now is available in several tiers; Free and Founders (paid). The number of Daily Active Users on iOS was 2.5 million or 10% of the 25 million who played every day across all platforms. You can download the official Stadia app on an iPhone or iPad, but it's basically just a tool for browsing the store, messaging friends, and more. Read our affiliate link policy for more details.
