Boston Celtics trade Enes Kanter to Portland Trailblazers in 3-team deal

The Grizzlies gets Mario Hezonja and the 30th pick (Desmond Bane) from draft-night deals as part of the trade.

The Portland Trail Blazers are acquiring Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter in a three-way deal that also includes the Memphis Grizzlies, sources tell ESPN. It's a problem he will welcome after enduring a trying season previous year when injuries ravaged the Blazers' frontcourt.

He helped the Trail Blazers reach the Western Conference Finals, where they were swept by the Golden State Warriors.

The 28-year-old Kanter has around $5 million left on his two-year, $10 million contract that he signed with Boston last season. An entire offseason went by without Anthony finding a new home. He will be reunited in the frontline with Bosnian big man Jusuf Nurkic. He suffered a knee injury that cost him significant time at the beginning of the season, but he returned to give the Celtics a nice stretch of play in December and January. Anthony nearly certainly won't average the 33 minutes he played last season in Portland, and how he handles a reduced role will be essential in making this work.

Kanter spent just one year with the Celtics, averaging 8.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He also shot an impressive 38.5 percent from 3-point range in the regular season, which is the highest of his career since the 2013-14 season.
