Capitals unveil Reverse Retro jersey, with screaming eagle returning

Each team will wear this alternate jersey in multiple games during the upcoming season with special head-to-head matchups that will be announced at a later date.

The National Hockey League through their sponsor Addidas released Reverse Retro Jerseys for all 31 teams.

It's the first time in league history that all 31 teams had alternates released at the same time. Numerous newer teams are using versions or sweaters from cities where they previously played including the Carolina Hurricanes who'll be using a version of a Hartford Whalers jersey. It will be the first time they wear a red jersey and it will be the first time their beloved secondary mark appears as a jersey crest. According to the team, the green is meant to pay tribute to the greenery of the Pine Barrens, the home of New Jersey's mythical devil.

Each of the league's other 29 teams debuted their "Reverse Retro" jerseys Monday, a concept coordinated by league uniform manufacturer Adidas.

No VGK jersey would be complete without something new. "The over-arching design theme during Adidas' two-year-long process was to mine each team's jersey archive and team colours, remixing them to create something new and never seen before".

The Detroit Red Wings unveiled their 2020-21 adidas Reverse Retro alternate jersey on Monday.
