Here's Why Prince William Would Never Watch 'The Crown'

Despite living on the other side of the Atlantic ocean, Prince Harry is keeping himself up with the investigation into Princess Diana's controversial interview with Martin Bashir.

Those who knew Adeane, who died in 2015 aged 75, after serving as private secretary and treasurer to the Prince of Wales between 1979 and 1985, said the Netflix series was guilty of repeating cliches and inaccuracies about the way Princess Diana was treated in Royal circles.

The BBC has promised to "get to the truth" about the events surrounding the Panorama interview with Princess Diana.

A source close to Prince Harry is responded to a recent tabloid reports that accused the royal of failing to support his brother and protect their late mother's legacy.

The Duke of Sussex has chosen not to speak publicly about the BBC inquiry into his late mother's 1995 Panorama interview, which has recently come under new scrutiny.

"Sadly, some people are not just seeing this as a drive for truth, but also trying to use this as an opportunity to try to drive a wedge between the brothers", the person said.

Lady Diana's brother Earl Charles Spencer also asked BBC to further investigate the matter.

"You do not need a public statement to imagine how he is feeling privately, people know how much his mother means to him", the source said.

The broadcaster has appointed a retired judge, Lord Dyson, former master of the rolls, to lead an investigation into the Diana interview. The duo had two sons-Prince William and Harry. "He has spoken out bravely in the past about loss and grief, and the enormous impact it has had on him".

After weeks of allegations about the subterfuge used to win the Princess's trust, forged bank statements and fantastical stories, Tim Davie, the BBC director general, announced an independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the interview and the apparent cover-up.

The BBC stressed that there is a fairly wide scope for investigation.

The spokeswoman added: "Clearly, if anyone submits new evidence - or the investigation needs to go to particular places - then Lord Dyson will be able to consider that appropriately".

Diana, who would divorce Prince Charles the heir to the British throne in 1996, detailed the pair's collapsing marriage in the BBC programme.

The BBC said Bashir, now its religion editor, is signed off work by his doctors because he is recovering from heart surgery and complications related to contracting COVID-19 earlier this year. Diana and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed were killed in a tragic auto crash in a Paris underpass on August 31, 1997, along with their French driver Henri Paul as they tried to outrun chasing photographers.
