'I am one of yours forever,' departing Serge Ibaka tells Raptors fans

Ibaka agreed to a two-year contract worth $19 million USA with a player option in the second season, according to reports from The Athletic and ESPN.

Serge Ibaka made the very hard decision to leave the Toronto Raptors, yesterday. I've had great teammates, front office and staff next to me.

"I want to thank Larry Tanenbaum and MLSE and the whole Toronto Raptors organization", Ibaka wrote. And of course, a fan base that is second to none, " said the post, which accompanied a black and white photo of Ibaka walking off the court and into a plethora of outstretched hands. I feel really blessed to have played for this city, these fans, and this organization.

"So thank you Toronto".

Free agent centre Serge Ibaka has reportedly signed a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. I am one of yours forever.

Ibaka, 31, spent the past three and a half seasons with the Raptors but will now join former Raps teammate Kawhi Leonard on the west coast. He became a key part of the team's championship run in 2019 and had one of the best seasons of his career in 2019-20, averaging a career-best 15.4 points per game.

It's an opportune time for Ibaka to take advantage of free agency, coming off one of the best seasons of his career.

Ibaka will help to ease the reported loss of Clippers big Montrezl Harrell, the reigning Kia NBA Sixth Man, who is expected to sign with the crosstown rival Lakers.
