COVID-19 in B.C

There have been nine new COVID-19 related deaths bringing the provincial death toll to 1,019 in B.C. One of those deaths was in Northern Health, bringing the death toll in northern 43.

There are now 358 people in hospital, up nine patients from last Monday, with 72 people in ICU.

46 of the new cases were from the North, boosting the region total to 2,606.

Meanwhile, 7,238 people are under active public health monitoring.

Dr. Bonnie Henry says more details will be revealed about the rollout after March, adding frontline healthcare workers and those with pre-existing health conditions will be given priority.

446 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in BC as the provincial total reaches 58,553.

Health Minister Adrian Dix also confirmed that the Vancouver Canucks did cancel a training camp session after a player came back with a "false positive" COVID-19 test on Sunday.

That update is expected to be delivered through a written statement in the afternoon. To date, 1,019 people have lost their lives as a result of the virus including 13 within Island Health. "But we have learned, we have adapted, and by following the orders and rules for a bit longer, we will soon get to the brighter days ahead", Henry and Dix say.

Things are different than what they were before the pandemic.
