ASUS ROG Phone 5 with secondary screen appears in a leaked video

ASUS has officially teased the arrival of its next gaming phone. It means that the Taiwanese phone maker might skip the number 4 in the series (like OnePlus) and launch the ROG Phone 5 instead.

The live images not only showcase the phone but also highlights some key details about the device.

The images surfaced were shared on Weibo by a user named Whylab.

The rear screen is nothing but a short strip that shows some basic alerts for games, incoming calls and possibly messages. Interestingly, there is a mystery red button at the bottom-left corner of the ROG Phone. The overall design, however, seems to be on the same lines as ROG Phone 3. However, the model brand has moved from the middle of the again panel to one of many backside corners of the gadget, which the leakers says may work as a "one-click start button" of the sport mode. The newly-designed rear panel of the phone highlights the number "5", thereby indicating its name. Yes, not the four, but ROG Phone 5!

Previously, the alleged as Asus ROG Phone 5 smartphone was spotted on 3C certification with model number ASUS_I005DA. Since in China and many other Asian countries, the number "4" is considered an unlucky number, so many manufacturers have chose to skip the 4th generation. This is because, much like other Asian countries, people in Taiwan consider the 4th numerical to be unlucky (maybe because the pronunciation of the word for 4 and death is similar in Chinese). It is believed that the next Asus ROG Phone will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chipset and will arrive with an edge-to-edge display with a narrow chin. We can expect the ROG Phone 5 to be just as bulky and hefty with support for additional gaming accessories.

The next-gen Asus ROG Phone 4 is rumored to pack a dual-cell 6000mAh battery with 65W fast charging support.
