Free agent Wilshere rejoins Bournemouth on short-term deal

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is set to re-sign for Bournemouth.

The 29-year-old, who was released by West Ham United in October, has taken what The Athletic understands to be a significant drop in wages from the reported £100,000 a week he was on at the London Stadium.

The FA Cup victor has agreed a contract until the end of the season, where he may be handed the opportunity to extend his initial deal with Jason Tindall's side. He has impressed the manager and team-mates with his attitude and fitness.

"Wilshere is eligible to be part of the Bournemouth squad for Tuesday's Championship game at Derby County". He could be involved.

The Rangers boss had planned to team up the former Arsenal midfield ace with former England worldwide Jermain Defoe as he guides the Ibrox outfit to their first title in a decade.

Speaking on his move to the Championship side, Wilshere said:"From the minute I walked through the door three weeks ago, it felt natural and like I had never been away".

"I've been really pleased with what I've seen since he's been training with us".

"It feels great to be back and I can't wait to get started", Wilshere said in a club statement.

Given his injury record and the fact he has made only one appearance this term, West Ham's EFL Cup win over Hull in September, boss Jason Tindall will be mindful to manage the midfielder's workload.
