One man, five children killed in Muskogee

Officials were expected to release more information later Tuesday.

Muskogee Police Officer Lynn Hamlin described the slain youths as "small children", but said police do not have exact ages yet.

'One of our officers shot, fired at that suspect, missing him.

After a brief chase police apprehended Pridgeon and took him into custody, reported Fox23.

Inside the home, officers found four children and a man dead, along with an injured child and the injured woman - all of whom had been shot - police said. A fifth child died after arriving at a hospital. "There was also one adult female with life threatening injuries taken to a Tulsa hospital".

'We are saddened by this tragic loss and our deepest sympathies go out to all of those impacted, ' stated Schools Superintendent Dr. Jarod Mendenhall.

Muskogee Police Chief Johnny Teehee said he thinks it was a domestic incident, according to KJRH.

The suspect was still at the scene, holding a firearm, police say.

A woman who was shot and wounded was in stable condition Tuesday afternoon, Hamlin said.

Authorities have not released any of the victims' names. He was convicted of felony assault and battery with a unsafe weapon, threatening to perform an act of violence and malicious injury to property in 2019 and received a three-year deferred sentence.
