Six People Arrested for Changing Hollywood Sign to ‘Hollyboob’

Several pictures and video circulating on social media showed the iconic sign with a big tarp of letter "B" on it thrown over the "W". LAPD Captain Steve Lurie said they are all charged with misdemeanor trespassing."There's no vandalism, because the sign wasn't damaged", he told the Los Angeles Times. A police helicopter responded, following the five men and one woman to their point of origin on Mulholland Highway, where they were arrested by waiting officers.

The incident can not be classified as vandalism "because the sign wasn't damaged", Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Capt. Steve Lurie, the Hollywood area commander said, per the outlet. They are facing trespassing charges.

The stunt was an attempt to raise breast cancer awareness, according to sources who spoke to TMZ.

The sign is not accessible to the public, though visitors can visit the surrounding Griffith Park.

"It's unfortunate that such an important icon for the city of not being appreciated", said Mark Panatier, chairman for the Hollywood Sign Trust.

The Hollywood sign in Los Angeles was reportedly vandalised on Monday and changed to "Hollyboob".

The incident is far from the first time the landmark has been modified - having been edited on three separate occasions by marijuana-loving locals to read "Hollyweed".
