Barry County GOP censures Rep. Peter Meijer over impeachment vote

During a February 16 appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe", Aronberg - a South Florida Democrat who often appears as a legal analyst on MSNBC - laid out some reasons why he believes that Graham has less to worry about than Trump when it comes to Willis' investigation. Seven Republicans did vote to convict Trump, making it the most bipartisan impeachment vote in U.S. history.

Burr, who is not running for reelection next year after three six-year terms in the Senate, said in response, "It is truly a sad day for North Carolina Republicans". Most of the seven GOP senators who voted to convict Trump have also faced calls for censure from fellow Republicans in their respective states in recent days.

The first territory delegate to participate in a Senate trial, Plaskett was a law student of lead impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin, who was a constitutional law professor at American University before serving in Congress. She referenced polls that show most of the Republican Party remains behind the ex-president.

"Thompson was hindered and impeded in the discharge of his official duties and suffered the deprivation of his right to be free from intimidation and threats in the discharge of his official duties, as explicitly protected under Ku Klux Klan Act", the filing continues.

A resolution to censure Toomey came up for discussion at the state party's leadership committee meeting on February 6, weeks after Toomey had said Trump committed "impeachable offenses" in the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

In a statement, Trump criticised McConnell and said the Kentucky Republican "begged" Trump for his support in his 2020 re-election to the Senate. That's the same level of support he had in November, Morning Consult reports, before it slipped just after the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. Mitt Romney for voting again to impeach Donald Trump, a left-leaning group is launching a campaign aiming to unseat Sen.

"There's still more evidence that the American people need and deserve to hear and a 9/11 commission is a way to make sure that we secure the Capitol going forward", said Sen. Thom Tillis, who declared Trump not guilty of the incitement of insurrection charge.

"The immunity argument is about the timing of the trial; it is generally accepted that ex-presidents can be prosecuted for crimes committed in office", Kalt said. Richard Burr. Party members in Utah, Pennsylvania, Nebraska and ME have also threatened to censure Sens.

Within hours of Burr's decision, the North Carolina GOP and 2022 Republican Senate candidate Mark Walker quickly rebuked Burr. "Fortunately, clearer heads prevailed, and President Trump has been acquitted of the impeachment charge filed against him". He released a video on February 4 that took direct aim at the Nebraska GOP State Central Committee after reports surfaced that state party officials were considering censuring him, a formal and public measure of disapproval.

He added that the GOP must plan for the future and how, in his view, impeachments are not about the individual office holder, but about the behavior the nation wants presidents to exhibit while occupying the White House. "And the DA in Atlanta said that she is expanding her investigation to include the making of false statements". The party's leader in Pennsylvania, Lawrence Tabas, has publicly criticised Senator Pat Toomey for voting to convict.

"Well, I think that the cancel culture where we see the President kicked off of all, the former President kicked off of all social media, where we see people losing their jobs, where we see people who have been hit on social media or deplatformed is entirely different from us as a state party saying that we disagree with one particular vote cast by a senator", Whatley stated.
