Armed Good Samaritans Stop Shooting Spree That Left 3 Dead

One suspect shot and killed two victims in the store, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto.

Bullet holes could be seen in the window of the gun store in the hours after the shooting, according to footage from New Orleans ABC affiliate WGNO.

Bystanders gather at the scene of a multiple fatality shooting at the Jefferson Gun Outlet in Metairie, La., Saturday.

Sources say that a man entered the gun outlet with a loaded, unholstered firearm. People at the range engaged the shooter in an attempt to keep others safe, he reported.

"Two shields, typically used to block the view of bodies, were set up in the parking lot".

The scene remains active.

On Saturday afternoon, a suspect outside of New Orleans, Louisiana fatally shot two people and injured others at the Jefferson Gun Outlet.

Police said when deputies arrived at the scene of the shooting at around 2:50 p.m. local time (3:50 p.m. ET), they found multiple people with gunshot wounds.

Three individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene and two others were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The authorities said the two hospitalized are in stable condition.

He said several other individuals then engaged the original suspect, both inside and outside of the building and that one other person also died.

"It got extremely loud, like a bomb nearly", said Joseph, who hid with other students under a table - not knowing if there were multiple shooters or if one was near the classroom.
