Bun B Blasts Texas Governor Greg Abbott For Lifting COVID-19 Restrictions

Greg Abbott completely lifted the state's mask mandate on Tuesday despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich isn't happy about it.

"If our campus were to follow the governor's plan, I would feel much less comfortable about living and being on campus in general", said organizational leadership and supervision junior McKenna Kemp.

He said it was "critical, critical, critical that people follow the science" and continue taking precautions such as wearing masks, socially distancing, and handwashing. The state's death toll and current case rate are still among the highest in the US.

Greg Abbott and Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves both announced Tuesday that their states will lift mask requirements that have been in place for months to protect against Covid-19.

Yet the wave of reopenings has put states at odds with the Biden administration and its senior health officials, who have reacted with dismay to the relaxation of coronavirus measures at a precarious time in the pandemic.

Under Reeves' new order, restrictions will remain on venues hosting collegiate sporting events. Seating capacity for indoor bowl and arena seating is now increased to 50%.

He said rules for K-12 schools are not changing.

The president, urging people to frequently wash their hands, wear masks and maintain social distancing, added, "And I know you all know that I wish the heck some of our elected officials knew it".

Until now, most of Mississippi's 82 counties had been under a mask mandate for months.

Likewise, U.S. President Joe Biden avoided mentioning Texas and MS by name but clearly expressed displeasure at the states' actions during a White House event Tuesday highlighting the release of the Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) vaccine. Reeves ended the statewide mask mandate on September 30, but subsequently issued orders for individual counties. This order will go into effect at 5:00 PM on March 3rd and stay in effect until March 31st.

Businesses can operate without state mandated restrictions and at full capacity. Our hospitalizations and case numbers have plummeted, and the vaccine is being rapidly distributed.

What Happened: Abbott and Reeves became the first governors to bring their pandemic-related edicts on business operations to a conclusion, with each citing the rollout of the COVID vaccines as playing a key role in their decisions.

Walensky said Wednesday that she is once again "troubled" by recent trends in COVID-19 case rates.

Thousands of vaccination appointments are now available on the MSDH website. "Now is not the time to let up", he said. "We will all need to assess for ourselves and our families to handle the risks and rewards of every and every activity we choose to pursue".

According to a Reuters tally, roughly 68,240 new cases have been reported on average each day this week, or 27% of the peak daily average reached on January 7.

Additionally, the number of COVID-19 cases, COVID-related hospital admissions and clinic visits for COVID-19 like illnesses in MS have been trending sharply downward in 2021.

To date approximately 2526 cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed in Leake County with 71 deaths and 3,817 in Neshoba with 169 deaths.
