Buckingham Palace responds to explosive Harry and Meghan interview

In comments made during a visit to an east London school, William became the first royal to directly address the explosive interview broadcast Sunday in the US that his brother and the Duchess of Sussex gave to Oprah Winfrey.

Meghan, who is biracial, said in the interview she was so isolated and miserable as a working member of the royal family that she had suicidal thoughts.

During the two hour interview, Meghan Markle told Oprah that there was a conversation in the family about how dark Archie's skin would be when he was born.

"He wholeheartedly believes that our country owes a huge debt of gratitude to the rich diversity of cultures that make up our society and going forward is at the heart of what we can be as a nation", they said.

During her interview with Oprah, Meghan gave her version of events about the incident, which took place soon before her royal wedding in May 2018.

"Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership".

Kate had given birth to her third child, Prince Louis, weeks before. She said it was especially nerve-wracking for Harry to show his vulnerability, and that she's incredibly proud of him.

It is understood the Queen waited until Tuesday to comment on the tell-all interview with Oprah so Britons had the chance to watch it first - but they are not expected to make any further comments.

"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning", the statement continued.

Miss Gavankar, 40, told Phillip Schofield on This Morning that "the family and the staff were well aware of the extent" of the Duchess's mental health issues, adding: "Though their recollections may vary, ours don't, because we lived through it with them".

In the Oprah interview, Charles was personally referenced by Prince Harry, who said he felt "really let down" by his father after he allegedly refused to answer his calls during his time in Canada. "She's claiming that Kate had given her an apology and a bunch of flowers and a card, is Meghan in a position to comment whether the Duchess of Cambridge was upset by this?"

Prince Harry also said that he and Prince William's relationship needs "space" at the moment, but stressed that he will always love his brother.
