Gov. Andrew Cuomo allegedly groped aide, report says

The governor had summoned her to the Executive Mansion in Albany, saying he needed help with his cellphone, the newspaper reported.

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced appointments to lead the investigation into the sexual harassment allegations against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo Monday.

The sixth woman to accuse New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) of sexual harassment says that he aggressively groped her after she was called to the governor's mansion late a year ago. "All allegations that we learn of directly or indirectly are going promptly to the investigators appointed by the attorney general", his acting counsel says.

The allegation from the sixth accuser reportedly came to light at the governor's Executive Chamber on March 3, as staffers congregated to watch Cuomo's news conference that day where he denied ever touching anyone "inappropriately". A sixth woman has come forward alleging that Cuomo inappropriately touched her late past year, during an encounter at the governor's mansion. At least one female supervisor came to her aide and asked her why she was upset.

Insider reported that the woman disclosed the incident in an internal complaint to her supervisors, and that complaint had been referred to the New York Attorney General Tish Jame's office, where an investigation into Cuomo's conduct is underway.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) was pressed again on the growing number of claims of sexual harassment being leveled at him.

Cuomo has been under fire for weeks, beginning with revelations that his administration withheld details from the public about the pandemic's death toll among residents in state nursing homes.

In his response, Cuomo said he was not aware of the latest allegation and repeated his denial from last week, when he apologized for unwanted advances but also adamantly insisted that he never touched anyone inappropriately. "They were alone in Cuomo's private residence on the second floor when he closed the door and allegedly reached under her blouse and began to fondle her, according to the source".

Cuomo has denied inappropriately touching anyone, but has said he is sorry if he made anyone uncomfortable and didn't intend to do so.
