Fully-vaccinated people may travel now: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

- Fully vaccinated people can travel internationally without getting a COVID-19 test before travel unless it is required by the global destination.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that vaccinated Americans can resume travel domestically and internationally with low risk of exposure to COVID-19, as long as they wear masks in public.

"There's several new babies in our family and it's just killing everybody that we haven't been able to get together and to see them", she said.

Roger Dow, chief executive of the U.S. Travel Association, said the "new travel guidance is a major step in the right direction that is supported by the science and will take the brakes off the industry that has been hardest hit by the fallout of COVID by far". For example, fully vaccinated grandparents can fly to visit their healthy grandkids without getting a COVID-19 test or self-quarantining, provided they follow the other recommended prevention measures while traveling. It is also keeping requirements that almost all global US air visitors getting a negative COVID-19 test before traveling to the United States.

More than one in five adults in the United States is now fully vaccinated, CDC director Rochelle Walensky said at a briefing.

"We are working with consultants in infectious disease and virology to evaluate vaccination strategies and to prepare for when vaccines are made widely available to our player group", the men's tour said.

As of Thursday, 99.6 million US residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and more than 56 million people have been fully vaccinated.

"Fully vaccinated" is two weeks after receiving the second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, or two weeks after receiving the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
