The brothers, whose relationship has been strained amid Harry's decision to quit royal duties and move to California, will flank their cousin Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne.

William, 38, is second in line to the throne.

A small group of Philip's close family and friends are attending the televised funeral service, which will begin after a national minute's silence at 3pm.

Nine members of the royal family will follow the coffin as it makes its way to the chapel.

It was also sung at the funeral of his beloved uncle, Earl Mountbatten of Burma, who was murdered by the IRA in 1979.

The procession is due to reach St. George's Chapel at 2.53pm.

The duke, who served in the Royal Navy in World War Two, requested that the original Belize Green bodywork be switched to Dark Bronze Green, a colour used for many military Land Rovers.

Some of the duke's closest aides, including his private secretary and personal protection officer, will also walk in the procession.

William has spoken of the kindness his grandfather Philip showed to Kate.

But the stripped-back ceremonial funeral will still feature members of the armed services he was associated with lining a short procession route through the immaculately trimmed grounds of the castle, whose history dates back 1,000 years.

At the conclusion of the service, Prince Philip will be interred in the Royal Vault in St. George's Chapel.

Images of a modified Land Rover designed by the Duke of Edinburgh to carry his coffin have been revealed.

The procession includes the Prince's four children and three grandchildren on foot - and the Queen behind them in the State Bentley. Philip died on April 9 at age 99.

"And there are people who see him as absolutely entrenched in an institution that is arcane and out of date, and I guess some would say, maybe racist, and so that is where the challenge and difficulty of playing someone who is that well known and part of such a well-known family", he added.

The 61-year-old Grand Tour presenter assured, striking a bit of a conciliatory tone, that he would by no means judge her, as people "are allowed to resign from jobs they don't like".

The funeral will be broadcast live via BBC World News from Windsor Castle.

Prince Philipp of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, 51, is the grandson of Philip's elder sister Princess Margarita. His family ties were just as broad, with Britain's longest-serving consort linked by blood and marriage to most of the continent's royal houses. "For Prince Philip, this is exactly what he wanted".

The Duke of Edinburgh, who had a keen interest in British industry, engineering and design, made the final adjustments in 2019.

Islanders in attendance paid testament to his irascible nature, recounting stories of his visit, which included winning a horse race and a fishing trip with residents.
