Over 1.14L Covid cases in India, lowest spike in 59 days

During the same time span, 2,677 more people succumbed to the pandemic, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry said.

Ontario's active COVID-19 caseload is now 8,368, down from 13,371 last week.

According to the health ministry, more than 2.67 crore persons have recovered from the infection across the country so far and 1,97,894 patients recovered during last 24 hours.

India's overall tally of Covid-19 cases now stands at 2,88,09,339 with 14,77,799 active cases and 3,46,759 deaths so far.

Two new cases were reported in the Renfrew County and District Health Unit.


The national Recovery Rate has increased to 93.67 per cent.

The Union Health Ministry has informed that almost 22,78,60,317 vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. India registered record fatalities due to Covid-19 on May 21 with 4,529 deaths - the highest from Covid infection in any country in a day since the coronavirus outbreak was reported in China's Wuhan in December 2019.

In closely watched indicators, the seven-day rolling average per 100,000 population was 31.9, the per cent positivity of testing was 3.5 and the reproductive number was 0.86.

Provincial health officials logged 663 new cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus today, the lowest single-day tally in Ontario since October 18. Also, 20,36,311 tests were conducted on June 5 taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 36,47,46,522, while the daily positivity has further declined to 5.62%.
