Witnesses describe chaotic scene of deadly Publix shooting

Two people were shot and killed inside a Publix in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office tweeted, "Upon arrival, deputies discovered three victims deceased from gunshot wounds, one adult man, one adult female, and one youngster".

The sheriff's office said the shooter is among those dead.

The three dead were only described as men, women and children.

"Detectives are in the beginning stages of determining what led up to the shooting", she added.

It was confirmed that the shooter was one of the three people who died, but authorities gave no other details on the suspect's identity or how they died.

Juan Gurardia was inside the deli area of the store when the shots rang out just before 12 p.m.

"I heard, 'They're shooting!' A woman Publix worker said, 'Run!" We are cooperating with the local law enforcement.

Palm Beach County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay asked for thoughts and prayers for the victims. Greene said. "I just thank God for being with me".

Joey Mendoza, a 62-year-old Royal Palm Beach resident, told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel he had just arrived at the store, and was still in his vehicle in the parking lot, when he spotted officers wearing tactical gear hurrying inside. All additional questions should be forwarded to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. The village is about 15 miles inland, west of West Palm Beach.
