Government data showed more than 47% of population have received their first jabs as of June 14 and about 35% are now fully inoculated, making Singapore one of the fastest in rolling out vaccinations in Asia.

While Japan has secured enough AstraZeneca vaccines for 60 million people and approved their use last month, it does not intend to use them immediately in public inoculation programs due to rare cases of blood clots reported overseas.

"With active participation and smooth vaccination, we expect to reach the first-dose vaccination for 36 million people by September", health ministry official Yoon Tae-ho told a briefing.

In response to concerns from Conservative MPs that the lockdown easing could be postponed again in July, Mr Hancock said: "The number of people dying each day in England is actually slightly falling at the moment, thank goodness, and there has not been a rise in the number of deaths following the rise in the case rate which started about three weeks ago".

"Our main target is the Expo Centre facility".

It added that of the total 24.84 crore vaccine doses recorded on Co-WIN till June 13, 19.84 crore doses (nearly 80 per cent) have been administered through on-site registrations. Currently, we have around 200,000 to 300,000 doses of vaccines, which are meant for those who will receive the jab for the first time.

The majority of states across the US have seen their positive COVID cases decrease as more Americans get vaccinated, but there are still a handful of states with infection rates on the rise.
