Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports that the Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators appear to be the frontrunners to land Tuomo Ruutu via a trade.

If the Carolina Hurricanes want to trade their solid power forward, there are a few connections to acknowledge. Ruutu developed in Chicago’s system while Ottawa employs his brother Jarrko Ruutu. Surely there are probably other teams interested in his combination of grit and scoring touch, although he hasn’t generated a point in six consecutive games.
