Blue Jackets Aren’t Intent On Receiving Goalie For Rick Nash
The Columbus Blue Jackets really need help at the goaltending position, but it doesn’t mean they won’t discount Rick Nash trades that don’t involve a goalie. One Blue Jackets source tells the Columbus Dispatch, “We want Value. Doesn’t have to be that position.”
Among the teams linked to Nash, the Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyersand Boston Bruins have young goalies to offer. However, the Bruins won’t trade Tuukka Rask, and the Kings may not be willing to give up the pieces necessary to get Nash, though they are likely willing to part with backup Jonathan Bernier. The Philaelphia Flyers have the pieces and are willing to trade goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, but the Jackets’ current price is too high.
In any case, this is good news for the rest of the suitors like the New York Rangers who don’t have a young goalie to offer up. Though the Vancouver Canucks could offer up Cory Schneider there have been reports that Canucks aren’t going to inquire about the star forward.
