Blues Looking For Experienced Defenseman
Three St. Louis Blues scouts were in attendance at Sunday’s tilt between the Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens, CBC’s Elliotte Friedman suggests the club could have an eye on left-sided defensemen Johnny Oduya and/or Hal Gill. Both are slated to become UFA’s after the season.
Oduya may be the easier and “cheaper” acquisition since several teams are said to be interested in Gill. Plus, Oduya’s $3.5-million cap-hit could be a turn-off to some clubs as opposed to Gill’s $2.25-million, but the Blues have more than enough space to accommodate that number.
