The Hockey Writers report that Bob Hartley is expected to be named the next head coach of the Montreal Canadiens.

The Hockey Writers’ Fred Poulin reports that Eric Veilleux will also join the Habs and become Hartley’s assistant. Hartley was the coach in Colorodo from 1998-2002, winning a Stanley Cup in 2001. Upon being fired from the Avalanche after 31 games in the 2002-03 season, Hartley found a job with the Atlanta Thrashers, where he coached until the beginning of the 2007 campaign. Most recently, Hartley was coaching the ZSC Lions in Switzerland in the first of a one-year deal and was a special assistant to this year’s Memorial Cup-winning Shawinigan Cataractes, where Veilleux was the head coach.
