Update:  Jay Pandolfo has signed a one-year deal with the Boston Bruins. The 38-year-old will earn $600,000 in the NHL and $350,000 in the minors.

12:59 PM: The Boston Bruins appear ready to pull the trigger on veteran left wing Jay Pandolfo.

The 38-year-old has been skating with the club since training camp on a professional tryout contract, and according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Boston “is likely to sign” Pandolfo to a permanent deal this week.

Pandolofo, who spent last season with the New York Islanders, would bolster the Bruins defensively. He’s also familiar with coach Claude Julien. Pandolfo played for Julien with the New Jersey Devils in 2006-07, when was a finalist for the Selke Trophy as the NHL’s top defensive forward.
