Bruins Could Eye Smyth, Hemsky From Oilers
The Boston Bruins are interested in adding Ryan Smyth before the trade deadline, according to CSN’s Joe Haggerty. But the Bruins may not be willing to pay the price for Smyth, so the Edmonton Journal’s Jonathan Willis wonders if they would target Ales Hemsky.
Willis writes that the list of high-caliber forwards is short, and Hemsky may be an interesting fit: “Hemsky wouldn’t seem a natural fit for the Bruins style of play, personified by Milan Lucic, but then neither did Michael Ryder and he worked out pretty well for them in the playoffs last season.”
This is obviously just pure speculation on Willis’ part, but it’s an interesting possibility since the number of top-six forwards on the market could dry up fairly quickly, leaving the Bruins in a tough spot.
