Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli told the Toronto Sun that, when he looks at history, rental players rarely pay immediate dividends for a club: “If you look back, on average, those types of players haven’t left a deep impact right away when they change scenery.”

This could indicate that Chiarelli is looking to add a few small pieces, but he’s not very interested in a big deal, like the one he made last season for Tomas Kaberle, which did not make the impact Chiarelli was looking for.

Potential targets for the Bruins, according to the Boston Herald, are Bryan AllenAdrian Aucoin,Scott HannanMilan Jurcina and Mark EatonRay WhitneyLee Stempniak and Teemu Selanne could also be in play, as well as Ryan Smyth and maybe even Ales Hemsky.
